J. R. Ransom
Hi, I'm J. R. Ransom. Thanks for visiting my personal web site.

I've set up this dynamic site so that I can post information about my currect work with entertainment and information on the Web, video production, guerilla internet perspectives, and some of my previous work with music production.

The research and development of my taosplaza.com group of Web Sites has been my "crusade" for about 7 years. The Web is the most important thing ever - a huge benefit to people - instant communication and information exchange everywhere in the world at once. Sounds great. Is great. My idea for the taosplaza.com site-group was seeded in me during many meetings and think-tank sessions about "the Web" going all the way back to 1996..., and incubated in the remote foothills of the Himalayas and beside the sacred Gunga River, in 1998..., and hatched into the worldwide web in 1999, upon the servers of taosnet.com. That was my path to the beginning of the sites.

I encourage you to look through my site group because it shows you just what can be done using the non-corporate, non-microsoft, open source, php, mySQL..., or what I can call: "Power to the People." The earliest sites in my site-group began as a static sites. That means you lay out a page in html code and link it to other pages and upload them to where other people (viewers) can see the pages (or "site"). Those pages can have lots of "things" "in" them - photos, graphics, animations, movies, whatever. When a site is "dynamic" it uses a database to hold all of that "content" stuff rather than making a "page" for everything.

After you look through my Taos portal site-group (link), you will have a much better idea about your own Web options with a dynamic site. So, please do that for a couple of hours, if you can. The taosplaza.com site-group has over 100,000 page references noted by google. Please study the features of the pages and the application of features for each site. This huge interlinked Web portal-group is what I have made online and what my company continues to make just about daily. And that's no hype. Bill Gates said that it's all about the content. In fact, the dynamic system I use very often in called a CMS (Content Management System). You can learn a lot more about all this on my online technical magazine site taosmultimedia.com.

A couple years ago I fell in love with php/mySQL dynamic Web sites. So I did a Ton of Research & Development and came up with a lot of really excellent online solutions that are very powerful as well as being super economical (relative to the huge costs of proprietory stuff). Over and above that, I fell in love with Joomla CMS, a beautiful open-source no-cost solution supported by hundreds of excellent developers world-wide. I set up a taosmultimedia.com Joomla demo site. (Note: Be sure to use the "Template Chooser" to see some of the thousands available).

What I can Do for You....

I specialize in the technologies that you have seen on my site-group. If you see it there I can provide it for your site - whether it's a weather forecast or an integrated map...., whether it's a personalized online video of you and your craft or a high quality Webcam put online for entertainment...., or newsfeeds (incoming and outgoing), or page monetizations (passive or active).

You'll want to contact me if you want to develope a magazine-style or ecommerce oriented site that has:

Thousands of Web "pages"
Multiple users and user security levels
In-house Web publishing system
Very easy for staff to post info
Dynamic page management
RSS Syndication Feeds
Newfeed from other sites
Passive or active monetization
Video presentations
Skype or video telecomm
Complete Easy of Use solution

The web work that I am doing with this technology is very much bigger than most people realize. Really.

If you have a brick and mortar business, it will be necessary to realize that a web site is actually a parallel business with whole different set of rules. It may be beneficial for your brick and mortar business that it's name is on the Web, but if you do it right even if the brick and mortar goes bye-bye, you might still have the light weight and large communication power of the web site. After about 15 years of having brick and mortar offices in Taos, at the end of 2005, my TMA corporation shut that studio/office down. Why? Well, it is simply not needed. In fact since closing the Taos MultiMedia Studio office at El Torreon, my own productivity has increased tremendously working from our home in Taos and in very nice places elsewhere in the world. Wow.

My General Pricing Estimate

Joomla Basic - up and running generally beginning at $1,000
The better the site gets the more it costs.
My base billing rate for these services is $175 per hour.

Pricing Note: Joomla is a free software and can be installed by a number of super-qualified specialists around the world. (See my Joomla Resource Links) on taosmultimedia.com. My pricing reflects my work to impliment your Joomla CMS with me as Super Administrator, train your operators (oh yes), establish a site direction for growth, growth, growth..., and help you keep your site and your message out in the world in the biggest brightest and best-ist ways. You hire me becuase you want Your Webmaster to beat Their Webmaster using guerilla techniques.

There are a number of other core technologies that I like for other site features that do not require a content management system (CMS) like Joomla. These include links farms, ecommerce sites and syndication sites. All are available as needed. All of the applications I work with are constantly being improved by genius individuals, teams, or even large online technical communities of dedicated people. There are a number of things that I do not do - one is flash animation; two is microsoft streaming media and three is illustration. I develop dynamic entertainment and information feature laden Web sites and make digital video movies, besides some involvment with the music side.

This isn't about "Web sites". I'm talking about being a long range cyber "player" in an awesome world of global communications, information, cash-flow, and opportunity.

There are a bunch of factors beyond setting up a site that effect a site very much, including Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Templating, and Content Creation, but the bottom line is that your site becomes a very powerful "engine" that will more than fully justify costs now.

You may think that your business is making and selling farm equipment - but when you are on the web your company might be more in the business of making little cartoons about Joey the Dancing Tractor or having a video blog with the sales manager talking about the benefits of your tractor. The "web business" drives traffic to the "equipment business", but they are still different.

Beyond the power of the technology - "It's Either Fun or It's Boring". TMA and I work on the Fun Stuff.

Thanks for your interest in my Web development work.
